THANK YOU SAGA FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN!

This years christmas gift from Bostad Direkt has been given to 25 households in Nakuru through our friend Saga who runs a water project in Kenya. Instead of a traditional christmas gift, Bostad Direkt has, as a company and through its employees, given 10 200SEK to charity. The entire sum has already been turned into bags of food, lights and financial support to 25 households in Nakuru. Below you can read more about Sagas great effort.

Sagas idea - 13th of December 2011:

I have spoken to my colleagues here in Nakuru and they have given suggestions on how Bostad Direkt can support vulnerable families here. There are many institutions and organizations that do good things for vulnerable people (orphans, people suffering from HIV/AIDS etc). A good idea would be to try and do something for the people that is not reached by these organizations. Basically help is needed everywhere and unfortunately corruption is widespread and you do not know who you can trust when it comes to money.

Sagas suggestion:

My collegue has previously worked for an organization that supports families that are very poor and that are affected by AIDS in one way or an other. He knows which areas that are suffering the most and he has the right contacts. We could focus on 15 households and give them support consisting of food and maybe some money. Sugar, milk and rice are staple commodities and would be highely appreciated. 350-400SEK/household would get us far. If you think that this is a good idea and if I do not have to stress too much before the weekend I could possibly buy food and hopefully have time to visit some of the households before I go back home. I could also take some pictures and send over.

Sagas report — 18th of December 2011:

Hi Maria! It has been a fantastic day! It feels really good (I do not think everything has sunk in yet)! We bought food, lights etc. for 25 households and we also gave them each a financial gift. It felt good to be able to give this directly to the people and see that it made a difference for the right people. Another thing that felt good is the fact that there was no political or religious agenda behind this, just good will. The people that accepted the gifts were extremely happy and we were greeted with singing, applauds, big smiles, tears and a lot of talk about ”God is good”. They are enormously grateful.

Thank you for making this happen! I It is a day in my life that I will never forget.
